A SECRET, ANOTHER TRUTH CONCEALED
Keeping secrets...One of the things only us humans do...Yet the joy of telling one, is much much more exciting...It makes our job, finding a drama, much easier.
So why do we keep secrets?
Is it really to prevent hurting others? Postponing the fear of being stigmatized?
Someone says on askville: secrets come from breaking the very strict moral religious rules..
Wandayatta says also on askville :I don't tell my family about my mental health issues, because I believe they wouldn't understand, and wouldn't be sympathetic. I don't tell my wife about what I really want, because I'm afraid if she knew what I really wanted from her, she'd ditch me. I know others are in the same boat. Should you reveal your atheism to you religious parents?
Secrets are lies, kept secret....Secrets express our fear, secrets are simply lies.
What would happen if people felt free to express themselves... wouldn't the world be a much easier place to live in and comprehend?
We are made to keep secrets from others, to grease the social wheels as some like to express it, but we all tend to either keep a secret, because we think this way we will be able to spare others the pain of living with the truth, or owe tend to tell secrets because we wither like the drama, or we truly think its better off that people know the truth than live a lie.
Personally i have a lot of secrets, most of which are just personal details i prefer not sharing them with the world...But i guess, some other part of the secrets, are secrets i know the world cannot bear...at least not in the time being...
Secrets sometimes, make you feel safe...they make you feel protected, or make you feel as though you are protecting others from the truth...Truth can hurt...But who fears the truth, if it is better of common...
People can sometimes contribute greatly on how much other people are willing to share from information with them. I can easily reveal one of my secrets in a society where multiplicity and diversity is a common factor, where people will not judge others for who they are, where people live to accept others, in order to be accepted.
A person who keeps secrets is not free...He is captivated by the urge to be truthful, yet the need to hide some things appears to be much more significant, that it overcomes his freedom..A person who has secrets is an incomplete person...We all have secrets no matter how much we try to state otherwise...It is only a part of how human beings are...Incomplete.
Should we reveal our secrets, one other man told me, we would become like animals...Free of any social responsibilities, free of this burden called pleasing the society. Yet animals have proved to be more in accord with nature than us human beings...Animals have proved to be more honest and sincere, random and unexpected...
I guess, it is for the general good, that people keep there own secrets, but remember a secret, is a truth concealed!

u finaly named that feeling i was never able to put a label on "captivated by the urge to be truthful". they say secrets are rocks you carry on your back and only when tell them all will u be able to stand tall and free of the burden. i thought about telling someone i truly loved one of my darkest secrets. the look of horror in their eye taught me how secrets could hurt and i don't mean hurt the people you tell them to cause lets face it.. what hurts the most is the feeling they project on you. you do all the hurting in that scenario. that secret was important in shaping the person that i am today but its not who i am. it only contributed to the final ,yet ever so changing outcome. one brick in the wall but a rather fundamental one...is it important to tell? or is it better kept in the shadows?

ReplyDeleteI think secrets are there for some reason. Sometimes as you said, a secret revealed is a burden removed off your back...And sometimes, its another burden added...Complex, but I still believe that a society that accepts to live with secrets rather than knowing the truth and living it, is a society that chooses to live the fabricated lie, as I like to call it.

ReplyDeletea wise man told me that the truth that matters the most is the truth about what goes on in you, who you are. that is the truth you should seek and know. confucius said "he who really knows is he who knows what he knows and what he does not know". that truth you may choose to keep for yourself and as long as you are sure of its okay.
but the truth about secrets ...a past life or whatever, that is something that is not as important to tell ppl. cuz the bottom line is the truth about you belongs to you alone, just as the truth about other ppl belongs to them.
so i'd be very carefull not to let myself live in "a fabricated lie" but if the ppl around could not handel the truth about everything around them (and they wont handle it) then i'll not burst there bubble.
you know that wise man also told me..."do yopu wish to know the whole truth about your parents and what they have done in their youth?" ...i dont think so.

ReplyDeleteSo sometimes, the truth must be concealed, but not for ever...For a truth to be a truth, it must come to see the light...
Remember what Jesus told his followers?
He couldn't have revealed the whole truth onto them, he couldn't burst the one whole truth to those who are not ready...so he pointed out the way to them, and he gave them they keys...Then he told them this:"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me"....He had to leave them where he stopped until god sends onto them another preacher, a spirit of truth, to give them the rest of truth they couldn't perceive back then...Mohammed, who indeed as Jesus foretold them, will remain with them for ever...Not in person, but in essence and teachings...He told us " I have cometh but to complete good morals"
So Yes sometimes people are not ready for the truth...so it must be kept as a secret for sometime...And when people are ready for it, they will go out looking for it, just like , Muhammed went all the way up the mountain in the cave to find peace and truth, others nowadays go far trying to find this truth...
Yet sometimes they are so close to the truth, they cant see it, so they move farther away until they come to find that where they used to be standing, the truth was there, they waste more time trying to go back to where they used to be close to the truth...but again they find the truth far away where they just left...
Only a few come to the realization that the truth is everywhere, god is in the truth, the truth is in god, and god is the truth, and the truth is god...
This great paradox seems to puzzle a lot, where others chose to rest their case and live ignorantly, preferring not to see the truth when they can see...They blind there own eyes on purpose.
They put more effort in trying to avoid god than they will ever need to experience him and see him...For he lies in everything...
Only then i remember this wise priest who told this lost man, " you must be stronger than me, for you have been able to disbelieve in god, and not see him when he is everywhere, I have only submitted and surrendered to the truth in-front of me, but you are struggling to hard, indeed you must be very strong."
you have given me alot to think about...finding the truth in god and finding god within us for we are a proof of his existence.
